Annual service contract on AC unit

I get calls every year from the overpriced company that installed our furnace. I told the girl that I already have someone that takes care of any problems I have. I also told her that it still runs cold enough that I do not need their techs mucking with it.

Mine still outputs at the proper temp. Unless there are some serious signs of corrosion or you find the output air temp has changed, then it is time to do something. Most times you usually deal with just a corroded wire, or bad Capacitor, which anyone knowledgeable with tools and can fix it their ownself can do.

If there is a serious leak. Either you will quickly notice, or notice it over time during peak cooling periods (ie feels warm & muggy inside with no cooling effect).

The preferential service treatment is good insurance if you're sensitive to extended discomfort. My wife can't hack heat & humidity so I have to fix it now. Couple years ago the fan motor took a squirt on the outdoor unit and it was late on Friday. To get her through to Monday when I could buy a replacement motor I had to position three box fans around the unit blowing right into the coils. This silly set up kept me out of the dog house.

We still have the old Window Shaker in the Dining Room Window. All due to cannot find the extra $600 to put in a window and pull the unit out. If ours dies. I can always turn on the Window Shaker if needed.

The bad thing about that window. Is that they had the lower window frame trimmed so that it is only about 8" from top to bottom. Makes it hard to just close that old wood window. I really wish when the lady that owned the place had the other windows replaced. She had them replace that window also. Then I would not have to keep the shaker in there to plug the hole.

If that ever happens again just turn the hose on spray and make your unit water cooled unit, and the fans as backup. Good Job.

so much to say but my energy and enthusiasm is exhausted.

but I do enjoy the inquiries of those not educated!

It's a friggin appliance, nothing more and nothing less. how it performs and benefits the proprietor depends upon up keep.

I can get technical, but I'm tired.
