Analog thermostat to digital thermostat conversion problem

I am replacing my old GMC analog thermostat for a Honeywell TH6220D (I have a heat pump). After replacing it my heater is blowing cool air. I called Honeywell and they informed me that I purchased a contractor model and can not help me. Here is how my old thermostat was wired:
Y=>yellow
G=>green
R=>red
O=>orange
W2=>white
E=>brown
C=>blue

I installed the new thermostat and wired the same color/letter, after 20 minutes I still had cool air blowing and inside temp went down 2 degrees.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Sorry, I believe it's a Goodman and the old thermostat was a Janitrol hpt18-60. Thanks.

In installer set up.
Do you have option 1 set to 5
And option 2 set to 0

I did have those settings eventually and everything seemed ok, but auxiliary kept coming on during the "heat on". I didn't think that was suppose to happen.

Depends how cold it is outside, what temp you have it set for. And if you raised the set temp by 2 or more degrees.

Aux heat comes on when ever the heat pump can't handle the load.

Initially I set it 73 degrees (8 degrees higher than room temp) Aux came on. I raised it 2 degrees 15 minutes later and aux came back on. Is it possible that this has always been the case and I never was aware because of the old thermostat?

Yeah. The old stat may not have had a light to indicate the aux was on.

And the aux should have come on. In the description you gave above.
Its operating normally.
