When I first turned the furnace on this fall, no heat only cold air. Fan motor runs and the vent motor starts up and then stops right away. Glow plug does not come on. LED flashes 9 times, board says chek igniter, but I took igniter to neighbors house, plugged it in his furnace and it works.

Filters are clean, gas is on, vent fan motor stops right after starting. The unit is 8 years old.

Is my ciruit board bad?? I have power to the circuit board for the vent fan and the igniter.

If anyone can help with answers, I would appreciate it.

There's a few things to check. Use a multi-meter to check for 120V going to the igniter. Check the fuse on the board...should be a 3 amp blade type (protects the 24V system circuits). Check that the transformer is putting out 24V.

Funny this issue should arrive. Today as a matter of fact I ran into the same issue. I was getting a ignition fault code of 9 blinks. I investigated the ignitor only to find odly enough a loose wire. As far as ohming out the ignitor it should be any where from 15 to 20 ohms. I received 14.7 which is just fine. I put the ignitor wires back together only to find the unit would fire up just fine. this sparked my interest. no pun intended. So I wiggled the ignitor connection to find small arks happening at this terminal. This was a down draft unit. also the unit would throw a high limit open signal. 4 blinks. all this stems from a loose ignitor wire. wiggle them in and out at the white hazey terminal. if the terminal moves more than 1/4 inch or so replace with the new upgraded version.
