Amana model GUIC070FA30
The furnace is four or five years old, and we have had problems, last season, that seem to relate to the draft safety switch. When it has been particularly windy, the furnace will switch on, hum for awhile, and switch off. Then it will do this again. Last season it would start the second or third time around but now it does not.
We blew on the hose, and the blower switch (the round one that allows the start process to continue), and the connections to the hose, last year when it did this, and it fixed the problem; but now the problem is back and blowing the hose doesn't work. The problem continues, though the wind is mostly gone.
The error code from the little red light is eight flashes. The manual only goes up to seven.
Anyone know what eight means? My other suspect is stuff in the flue chimney, but I don't Know how to check that. So I have four questions:
Do we need a new switch?
What does eight flashes mean?
How to I check that the chimney pipe is clear?
What else should I check?
Thanks in advance
