Am. Std. Furnace Control Board

I have a White-Rodgers furnace control board 50A50-471 (D340774P01) in my Am. Std. Furnace Model ADD080C936C-1. The FCB malfunctions intermittently, sometimes it sends voltage to the igniter and the furnace comes on and sometimes it fails to send voltage to the igniter. I have found several sources for universal replacement boards and was curious to know if there are issues with using the universal board as a replacement. Such as conversion kits.
Any input would be welcomed.
