air vent under bath vanity

This bath is in the center of the home, no exterior walls. Coming up from the foundation is a 4 inch plastic pipe acting as the air vent for the room. I wish to close this vent completely (simply cap it with a black rubber flexible pipe cap) in hopes of closing the vent and redirecting the air flow to other parts of the house. Currently, the air flow is very strong and has no vent cover. In the winter, when the heat is on, lotions and other products melt in the lower shelves of the vanity. Any reason not to use the rubber cap?

you will just have no air flow in the bathroom..... it should have a pipe damper in it and be installed in the kick plate of the vanity.... that's how its done here..... whats with the plastic pipe..... i am sure you will have more responses soon......

You need to install a diffuser in the kick plate of the vanity to channel the hot air out the front by your feet. You need to install a register boot to transition from the 4" pipe to a narrow register something like 31/2 " x 14".
