air quality

Does anyone know if you can hire someone to come in and test the quality of air in my home. Worried about mold... also make sure other gasses from oil furnace aren't affecting the kids health. oh and how much would something like that, if available, cost? Thanks

The #1 thing you need to do is install carbon monoxide detectors. That's the only gas from the fuel burning appliances that will do immediate harm.

You can do mold tests of the air in your home...And you know what...I guarantee 100% they'll test positive for mold. Mold guys get rich off of people that freak out over this. Mold is everywhere generally, and one need not be concerned unless and until you have mold physically growing in or on your home (in the walls, basement, insulation, etc).

if you are getting that oil smell then there is probably (not saying for sure but probably) a small oil drip somewhere and when the fan kicks on it is takeing the smell so look around the burner also when was the last tuneup you had? could be a drip from the nozzle as well like the pump cutoff is shot
