Air handler smell through vents
I own a Goodman ARUF049-00A-1B air handler which I've started having problems with this week.
A couple nights ago, I awoke to the smell of something burning through the A/C vents. I noticed that the airhandler was not blowing even though the compressor outside was on. I turned off the A/C at that point to be on the safe side.
The next day, I turned it back on. I could hear the compressor turn on outside. This time, the blower turn on as well. However, after about a minute, I started hearing a rhythmic whining sound coming from the air handler. The whining subsided...but I also noticed the fan began to slow down. After about 5 minutes the fan had come to a full stop even though the thermostat had not reached the temperature I set. I shut off the A/C and a few seconds later, the "burn smell" came through the vents again.
Does anyone know what it most-likely could be? The unit is about 7yrs old.
blower motor or capacitor

Yep. If the blower motor got hot enough to smell like something burning it's shot. Replace the motor and capacitor at the same time.
