Air handler fan sound

My HVAC system is installed in a utility room on the second floor. When I stand right in the room beside the system, the blower fan sounds completely normal. However, when I am in a 1st floor room directly below the system, the fan sound has a definite rhythmic whine sound. Like earnnnn, earnnnn, earnnnn, earnnnn, continuously. Ocassionally I hear the sound go back to normal and then the fan shuts off shortly after. I have my thermostat set to add some XX seconds to keep the fan running after the heat/cool cuts off. I suspect that the sound change is when the fan speed changes after the heat/cool shuts down. Any one have an idea what may be going on here?
thanks

Might be a harmonic vibration traveling through the lineset as the compressor runs.

Is that even possible? The sticker on the unit says 60 ft. but I think its between 40-50 ft. I was thinking more of a light fixture in the ceiling maybe.

Yes, it's a fairly common issue with linesets rubbing wall framing and/or equipment not operating properly.
