Air Handler Emergency Drain Pan Outlet

When is this outlet ever drained into the gutter? My experience is that this emergency pipe should be routed through the soffit and located in front of a window where if you see it dripping, that means your main condensation pipe is clogged.

If it's routed into your gutter, how will you ever know? Does this violate code?

Air Handler Emergency Drain Pan Outlet

Hi handy man88

This is not against code. It is however a waste of pipe. You are corect in the fact that it should be placed in a conspicuous place so that it can be monitored. If you have the ability to do so, reroute it so it can alert you too a problem.

Good luck
Rusty
