air conditioner installation

i am looking to install an air conditioner that has ventilation fins on the side. the majority of the a/c will be outside, but there might be, due to the thickness of the wall, some of the ventilation fins inside the wall. the a/c has a slide-out chassis. is this ok, so long as most of the ventilation is outdoors???
