Air conditioner fins

The outside unit has nothing to do with the air blowing inside the house.
The unit outside really needs to be kept clean and the fins straightened out for proper operation.

These are what's used to fix the fins.

Air conditioner fins

A condenser, the outside unit in question, rejects the heat absorbed by the inside evaporator coil while the refrigerant changes from a high temperature vapor to a liquid. It can not reject all the heat without the proper air flow and with enough of a blockage stands a chance of the refrigerant not condensing fully into a liquid. Vapor back to the evap equals no cool.

Keep those coils clean results in lower supply air temp and improved efficiency, lower electric bill, etc.

Air conditioner fins

The only time I've seen the fins actually corroded away was where the dogs were relieving themselves on it. Could this be an issue for you?
