Air conditioner condenser placement question
Hello
Just had a quick question about mounting air conditioning condenser unit to the side of the house vs. on a gravel pad. I am concerned that mounting to the house may introduce additional noise issues/vibration. What do you pro's recommend? I am located in Chicago so I presume mounting up from the ground is advisable... Thanks |
you'll need clearence all the way around it for air into the coil and access to the controls

Yes. I am assuming proper clearance around the unit. My question is whether mounting is better?

What's going to have to happen is a platform will be needed to be built and anchored to the wall so the condenser can sit on the platform. I'd set the condenser on rubber vibration isolation pads as well as use a minimum of 1' thick insulation on the low pressure line, make certain the high pressure line is taped tightly to the low, use foam sealant in all crevices/wall penetrations and lastly buy and install a compressor sound blanket.
Even then you will hear something. |
Neither is better but if up high enough you reduce the chance it gets stolen.

Thank you all for the great advice
