Advice when replacing furnace

Got some bad news that my gas furnace needs to be replaced. We've had a repeated problem with a safety switch shutting down the burners. HVAC guy said he can test it but if it fails, as he expects, he would be required to shut down the system immediately. I am meeting with him this weekend to discuss options. What should I ask and look for?

We would get our furnace and outside AC unit replaced in one shot since the AC is very old and in terrible shape.

Thanks!
Kevin

The safety could be tripping because of a bad heat exchanger.
Or, because of something simpler.
Might want a second opinion.

I am not currently home...He came over and met with my wife. He said the heat exchanger is bad. The code was "rollout switch open". It's a York that is about 12-17 years old. Don't know the exact age since we are 2nd owners. I plan on having another company take a look.

It could be a bad HXer, or something else.

Isn't is strange how its safe to operate if he doesn't check it.

Advice when replacing furnace

We already had one in the house. I moved it to just outside of the furnace.
