Adding heat registers to basement

The finished part of my basement is about 25 ft x 12 ft x 7.5 ft high. Ceiling and walls are drywall- don't know if there is any insulation. The floor is tile.

There are now 2 heat registers on the side of a soffit running the length of the room. The near one is about 2 feet into the room, the far one is about 3/4 the length down. There are no return air registers.

Will adding additional heat registers in soffit increase warmth in room? Are there guidelines for how many vents are needed for a given space?

Unfortunately, due to house layout (chimney/fireplace and exterior wall) and basement layout (builtin cabinets along wall), cannot add vents in spots which are coldest. Register vents in soffit seems to be only possibility.
