Add a thermostat?

We are renting a house. There are 2 thermostats, one located in the master bedroom upstairs and one in a "den". Problem: Guests are staying with us indefinetely, they occupy 2 rooms which includes the den. We are freezing in the living area because they keep the door closed. They are nice & toasty. I have them put the heat to 68* and leave the doors open that lead to the living area. This is becoming VERY annoying. Should I approach my landlord with with the suggestion that I add, at my own expense, another thermostat in the living room, and will this help with the heating problem? We have natural gas heat by steam and baseboard. Any suggestions would help. Happy holidays.:hammer:

You need to remind your "guests" about what Ben Franklin once said about them and fish:

Quote:

Guests, like fish, begin to smell after three days.

Does your landlord know they are there.
If not, your landlord may want more rent money.

Adding another stat, will make their 2 rooms that much warmer.

So do it. And they may find a place of their own, problem solved.
