AC Tonnage / Sq Ft - Basement

I know that the ROUGH estimate per cooling ton is approx 1 ton per every 500 sq ft.

But, for a basement does the same apply since it's below grade? If not, what is a good rough estimate for every 500 sq ft?

thanks

( my basement is about 90% below grade, on the top 12-14 inches or so of the basement walls are above grade. )
