AC don't work no more

The outside fans works
The coils get cold
The fan does not blow inside

If I put my ear up to the air handler I hear what sounds like an electric motor trying to run even when the unit is turned off at the thermostat

When I turned it on with my ear to the air handler wall I hear what sounds like a kids boom car at a redlight with the windows rolled up.
At first I thought it was the next door neighbors rap music coming through the pipes

Any clues

The 24,000 BTU unit iwas installed by the previous owner in 98, small house

Do you have access to the air handler?

(sounds like the blower motor needs to be replaced)

That's what I was figuring

The air handler is one of the closet model
with the panel in front, just a few hex heads in the way

Seems simple enough, but that's what I said about the injection pump on my truck
Any hidden hoops to jump through

The air handler is on a separate breaker and I have taken out the main disconnect at the unit so that end is easy

There is a relay to bring the motor on, if the motor has power and doesn't start it could be a bad capacitor, if there is no power at the motor leads it could be the switching relay or the thermostat not bring on the fan.

Ok
I don't have any electrical testing tools yet so I have done what I could

The aforementioned bass thump coincides with the motor trying to turn

the fuse is good
I can not find a reset switch but there is a remote disconnect that looks like a very large fuse I pulled it out and waited a little before plugging it back in

When I disconnect the thermostat the thumping and meager attempts of the fan to start all stop so I believe that the thermostat is good

This is a carrier unit if that matters

Call in a pro, you most likely need a blower motor but it should be properly diagnoised.

Too many other expenses. no money for a pro
That's a defeatist attitude anyway, I have fire insurance

I'm just going to start with replacing the relay, capacitor and then the motor if necessary.
Most of that stuff I can get either free or cheap
