AC Condenser fan spin

Hello Gurus,

I have a question. In my mind if I set the thermostat at a desired cooling temp, should the condenser fan continuously run until I've hit my set cooling temp? Just a weird question. Don't get me wrong, it appears my AC system is working just great. In fact, it's less than two weeks old, everything, split system. Trane handler and condenser, variable speed motor. I was checking out the condenser fan and noticed sometimes it stops but then goes again. Just didn't know if this is normal or not, even when my set temp has not been hit yet.

Thanks,

~S

Do you have a ambient fan control on the unit? It sounds like you do, if out side temp. is low it will shut off the fan so your head pressure can maintain a constant pressure.

Ah, that's probably it. That makes total sense. Don't know if I have it or not but guessing probably. My system consists of Trane XB13 and handler is hyperion XL TAM7 with the variable speed.

Thanks,

Unless you paid to have an ambient kit added to it, that XB didn't come with one. call the installing contractor back. or start up tech you used if you installed it yourself.

Thanks. I'll research that.
