70-24157-03 Rheem Draft Inducer Noise

Good Afternoon Everyone,

I think I need a new draft inducer motor assembly, but wanted to post on here to see if it can be salvaged. The one I have now has a great motor, but the fan blades rub on the inside of the assembly, making a horrible noise! I am unsure if these can be rebuilt or not. To amuse the pros out there, I will tell you that I attempted to WD-40 the problem! That only lasted two weeks. Now I want a permanent solution.

If this cannot be rebuilt, can anyone recommend a good parts supplier?

Thanks,
Jeremy

The wheel either warped(and began to wear the bearings). Or the bearing in the motor are worn allowing the shaft to move toward the furnace mount.

Replace assembly.

On any unit that they can be changed separately. Its alsoys a risk just changing one. Since cold. The bearings will hold the wheel in place. Then after it warms up. The shaft moves out and the noise is back.

And for some reason. Customers don't like to pay for a inducer to be torn apart twice.
