3.5ton evap with 4 ton compressor

Hey I have got a chance to get a free 4 ton compressor, but my old one is 3.5 and not keeping the house cool on a 90 degree day. I know this is a mismatch and dont do it, but why? It seems to me the compressor wold maybe flood the evap ( I have no clue is this is TXV or piston). Can this be done if I adjust the superheat to make sure it doesn't flood the evap? Air flow is great so that shouldn't be a problem. And if this could be done, would I have to change the piston or cap tube?
Thanks

Air flow is great? Guessing you mean it blows out the registers hard. Often this is a sign that you don't have enough air flow.

Your suction will be low and cause the coil to freeze up. Adjusting a TXV for more super heat will cause it to freeze quicker.

Using the proper sized TXV or piston will flood the coil, and cause liquid flood back to the compressor.
