2 wires, no labels, what would you do


I just realized that my last post was overly complicated. Here's a more simple version:

You open up an old thermostat. There are two wires, they're not labeled.

How would you connect it to a new battery powered thermostat? Which wire should connect to which terminal?

The new terminals are RC, R, W, Y, G, C, Y2, and W2.

All your old thermostat operated is heat?

If so connect one wire to R and on to W

If the two wire are red and white then put the red to R and the white to W
