2 furnaces off one oil tank

Hi,

I have an oil based heating system, and live in a duplex, so there are 2 furnaces and 2 oil tanks. I plan on converting my heating system to an electric one sometime this summer. Now, one of the oil tanks is running low, while the other is full. Once the one running low has run out, could I make a "Y" from the full oil tank and feed both furnaces? Would this work? It wouldn't be used for long as theres less than 2 months left of the cold season.

Thanks

Ayuh,... Depending on how it's plumbed, Yes, anything is possible...

Yes but to do it correctly you must determine what your max flow rate is and the size the main line accordingly, then you will have to purchase the appropriate Y so as not to starve either unit.

Who owns the oil in the other oil tank?

Are you getting a heat pump installed instead of your oil furnace?

I own the other oil, ie the full tank. Im going electric. Im in Quebec, electricity is very affordable.
