1995 luxaire furnace issue

currently the furnace will keep the house up to temperature for a good 8 hrs.. but then I have to go down in the basement and turn the power off to the furnace and then it kicks back on and works again for another 1/2 day.. I had a tech come out, but when he came the furnace actually decided to work.. I think if it sits for a long time when it doesn't want to work and you bump up the heat .. it will kick on.. anyhow, he recommended that I switch out the thermostat.. although he thinks it may be the circuit board being bad.. for the life of me, I kind find where to look to find the flashes on the unit.. can anyone explain to me where it I should look in the unit? also, do you think I'm wasting my time on replacing the thermostat? thanks.......

below is what my furnace looks like on the inside.. cant find where its supposed to flash

If your furnace has a flashing led light it will be on the board in the fan compartment below. There is usually a viewing port in that door but you may have to move your head around to see the led light. Some times it is nesseasary to tape in the blower door switch so that you can remove the door after the next lockout to observe the diagnostic code without cutting off the power to it.

You will have a legend inside your furnace that will tell you. Its usually glued to the inside of one of the furnace doors.
Let us know what it is.

Usually there is a list on the inside of the furnace doors or on the board where the flashing led is.

Neastguy ,try cleaning flame sensor. It is hard to remove because of the way it is mounted from side.I usually remove far left burner and clean sensor with emery cloth.Be carefull you dont pull on sensor while cleaning and break it.The led on that unit is under burner unless it has upgraded whiterodgers circuit board.
