14 below zero here and my furnace exhaust is frosting up

It vents through a chimney duct to the roof and the frost around the pipe is very large where it exits at the chimney. Should I be worried?

Is it a 90% efficient furnace?

I believe so. It's a sealed combustion unit.

If the ice covers/blocks the vent pipe, it will prevent the pressure switch from making, and you will see the associated diagnostic code in the furnace. If it does this, then you have to clear the ice. It could possibly cause other problems if it gets blocked, but you don't have to clear it unless it causes a problem.

Thanks. I just don't want any exhaust in my home.

The safety switches in the furnace will prevent this.

Is the "chimney" made of bricks or metal pipe?
