Yellow -browning grass

I had new Kentucky Bluegrass sod layed in my front yard three years ago. I also have a lawn care company taking care if my lawn, however, the past couple of years my lawn has not been the lusch soft, and green it normally is. How do I get this lawn to turn green and lusch? It seems every other lawn on my street is looking great but mine. :(
I have attached a few pics for your viewing pleasure.

I am no pro in this area. I can only tell you of my own experience. I rent a dethatcher and aerator every few years. And on the years I do this my lawn turns much greener than when I do not. I also only fertilize in the spring with a weed and feed type product. You have a good looking lawn. I can see that it has what appears to be thatch (dead grass) amidst the green. A dethatching rake will work, but is tough on your hands and back to do the whole yard that way.

Tom

I have forgot to mention that I have my lawn aerated and seeded every October. Could it be that the lawn company burned my lawn ? I will rent a dethatcher and see what happends.

Thanks

Your lawn doesn't look burned....it looks dormant. Does it eventually green up? Are you in a northern climate zone? If you've got a company that comes out and fertilizes, but you have no watering system ,or they don't time it with rainfall, then yes, you can destroy a yard. I don't have a sprinkler system, but I never fertilize unless i know I'm getting some rain the next day or so.

Cibula11,

I live in southern Michigan area by the way.I also have an irrigation system as well. My lawn last summer was the same way, it never turned dark green and lusch. Im ready to put in new sod?

Have you checked for grubs?

I have the exact same problem. I am no expert, but am slowly coming to some conclusions as to the issues.
First possible problem --- how much topsoil do you have ? Maybe take a pipe and take a core sample -- you might have trouble reading the sample if you have not done it before, but I found I was hitting clay after about an inch. Might help to have your soil analyzed too. So now I aerate and add compost every year.
Second possible problem --- how good is the outfit that is taking care of the lawn. I came to the conclusion that many just put cheap junk on your lawn, and I was better off buying Scott's and putting it on myself.

Definitely get a soil lab analysis. It looks like fertilizer burn to me but I cannot tell from afar. You do not water late in the day to have created an insect or fungus problem right?
