USDA plant hardiness zone map

I was checking out information on plants and came across this plant hardiness zone map. I thought it was good info to have and hadn't seen it before so I wanted to share in case others haven't seen it and want the info for your area. Instead of dealing with the color coded map you can go right below it and click on the state you live in - much easier way to navigate IMO

Bless your heart, you're just learning away aren't you?

Really though you will find that the USDA hardiness rating is as common as aspirin- even more important when discussing plants, what will grow where, etc.

You will commonly hear people ask, or mention, what zone are you in or something similar, i.e. will so and so plant grow in zone 5? USDA is what they are referring to.

lol yep I am soaking it all in.

This is literally the first year I have ever had to deal with my own lawn and planting which is something I have been looking forward to.

When I was younger my family had landscapers take care of everything and when I wa on my own I either lived in an apartment or town home where I didn't have to do any of the landscaping. I am definitely a n00b.

Thanks for all the info - I didn't see the zone map posted on here so I figured I would post it. Obviously I am showing my n00b-ness for all the gardening and lawn care stuff :)

You know how when you're in some kind of class or seminar and the instructor says, "There's no such thing as a dumb question?"

I like the perspective of one instructor I had- "Dumb questions are easier to fix than dumb mistakes."

Feel free to ask anything here you want.
