'Things' In The Yard

I took some time away from my 2-story addition to do some badly needed work on the back yard. One of the issues was the sand box.

I built this for the kiddos about 5.5 years ago....

And this was the sandbox 'then'....

This is the sandbox now...and after I removed the rotted wood. I didn't expect redwood to rot that quick

Does anyone know what this is? It was all over the inside cover on the sand box....seems to have the texture of a mushroom...with a different shape...

But I know what these things are......

Yea....I know some people see them as 'beneficial's"....but, sorry, I don't like spiders.....

In that third pic... that is the fungus that rotted the wood.

the 4th pic shows musroom mycelium. It's kind of like a mushroom's roots.
