Surface for a boules court?

Hi
I'm building an area outside for BBQs, playing boules and generally being lazy. We've put down about 4 inches of compacted harcore, but I don't know what to use for the top surface to get the right effect for a boules court. It basically needs to be a flat, hard, yet gritty surface, the sort you sometimes find on municipal park paths and play areas.
Does anyone know what product I should use to get this effect - something that won't break up or blow away in the wind?

It seems that compacted stone dust is the answer you're lookin' for...
