stihl hs46 hedge trimmers


brand new, just bought 2day from dealer. when i can get it runnin after trying to turn it over dozens of times, idles poorly. bogs down when adding throttle.

does anyone have an explanation for this? am i going crazy?

Ayuh,... Are ya usin' the Choke,..?? are ya turnin' it off, when it starts,..??

If all else fails, bring it back to where ya got it, 'n ask Them what's up with it...

Look on the side of the carberator, there should be two screws. One's marked H and one's marked L.
It high and low speed adjustments.
Try backing the L screw out (counter clock wise) an 1/8 of a turn at a time and see if that helps.

mine has to warm up a little, before it runs well. and if it is cold outside, it does not run well until it is really warmed up.
same for my leaf blower.

and i hope you didn't put E85 gas in it.

finally got it goin pretty good. adjusted L screw and primed the **** outta of it (the guy at dealer told me not to prime it more than 4 times, shows what he knows).

the gas i was using was midgrade and not to old (few weeks).

can anyone enlighten me on what the effect of open containers has on gas? is the gas less potent because of the release of vapors?
