SOS overgrown landscape and out of control weeds

Please help me stat a new lawn. i don't believe i have any actual grass left. it seems to be all weed and on the side i have these bad weeds that take the form of trees. I have cut down these trees but they seem to come back i don't want to use too much chemicals in my yard. Is there a way to remove everything and start a new? Help!

SOS overgrown landscape and out of control weeds

Water the whole area deep today. Then water it again every 2 or 3 days until a bunch of weeds come up. This will prevent them from germinating when your lawn seeds do. Keep it up until they are a couple of inches tall. Then spray roundup on all of them and wait 2 weeks for it to kill everything. Apply higher concentrated roundup on the stumps and suckers from trees. If you don't want to use weed killer then don't. Rototill the weeds into the soil to 4". Seed, top with soil to cover seed, roll to compact, water.

BTW, roundup is about the safest pesticide in the landscaping industry.
