soggy yard w/ponds drainage issues

I have a showcase yard I'm working on with the following:

• 3 pond & brook system
• raised bed garden pond w/ waterfall
• tiered bed garden w/brixk fountain

I've handled all the drainage issues on the water features but the backyard is basically a box with a slope in it. There are two low points left where water collects, at the top of the slope where the sidewalk abuts the yard at a 90 degree angle and another at the bottom of the slope. Problem is there are a giant live oak and good size crepe myrtle almost mingling roots from either side of both spots. Any solutions? Maybe I should be thinking about a design element?

Would a "rain garden" work between the trees? If the trees are that close together, their roots will always cause ponding water.

It pools at the top of the slope and the base. The roots run directly through the center. What's a rain garden?

If you google a rain garden , You'll get a much better explanation than I can give you here. Not seeing the areas that you are talking about is hard for me to comment on accurately.
