snow blower
I have a 20 year lod MTD snow blower one of the drive chains has popped off the sprocket how do i reinstall it

You will need to locate the master link, remove it, thread the chain over both sprockets, and reinstall the master link. As for the reason it came off, it could be that the chain has stretched that much, in which case you may need to eventually replace it, but you may have wear elsewhere, or you may have to adjust the pillow blocks that hold one or both shafts in place. Often, these pillow blocks have slotted mounting holes, in which case you would loosen the bolts, slide it back to tighten the chain, and tighten the bolts.

Also take a look at the sprockets. The tops of the teeth are suppost to have a flat spot on the very top, not pointed.

Yup. You should probably think about replacing the sprocket.

I talk from no experience this year so far. Grew up in Minnesota and even ice fished where it never seems to freeze anymore. Not much use for a snowblower in Chicago so far. 45 degrees or more today. Of course we will get blasted before the season is over. But I remember the days when Midwestern men were men different from those that suffered San Francisco or even LA winters with bone chilling lows of 42 degrees for three days on end.
