Shutting down sprinklers in high wind

I have a Virtual Rain 9 station sprinkler controller with remote control and I want to add a wind switch between it and the valves so that on high wind days the sprinklers do not come on. I want this to be automatic. Any ideas as for sail switch. I do not want to replace the controller as it was expensive.

Thanks

Shutting down sprinklers in high wind

i have seen electric awnings along the beach homes that have air scooping gizmos that if they turn to a set speed/rpms they roll the awning in to prevent the wind from ripping the awning off the house. http://www.budget-awnings.com/awnings-wind-sensor.htm
