Retaining wall fell, I don't want to rebuild it
Hi all,
In a nutshell, here is my problem. I've got a 7 ft. tall by 76 ft. long retaining wall in my back yard that fell over. Of course my back yard spilled out into the area behind my yard, which is a preservation area. Well long story short, my insurance won't cover this and I don't have the money to get this rebuilt (estimates are $15K - $30K). I need something done, as the yard is eroding into my pool area. I was wanting to get fill dirt, dump it back there, covering up the fallen wall and all, and put some grass seed there, and create a sort of hill or slope. This would be cheaper than getting the wall rebuilt. Here are some pics, one of them is a little blurry, sorry 'bout that. So my question is, do you think my idea will work? If I grow some grass and keep it watered, it should hold right? Will I be inviting more problems? Thanks. |
when the owners of the preserved land see your photos, they'll probable get in touch with you. I wouldn't try to do anything with the fallen wall until talking with them. Hopefully they can work with you to correct this, that is a big burden for a homeowner.
