Restaining deck rails vs. installing composite
I am looking for advice here. I have 10 year old deck. The floor is composit Epoch decking and the rails are cedar. I stained the rails myself initially, and it started peeling. I then had them restained and it is peeling again. I have been advised to strup it all off and start again, but the thought of that makes we want to puke. I really want to install a composite railing system, but it is very expensive $5-6K for materials.
I have been reading about the need to constantly restain the cedar railings and that makes me want to puke more. Any suggestions on what is best in the long run? |

Restaining deck rails vs. installing composite
How about aluminum, vinyl, etc ? Minimal maintenance, inexpensive compare to composite railing/ SS wire.

Thanks for the reply. Vinyl does not seem sturdy enough to me. Can you recommend aluminum brands to consider?
