Rain Barrel overflow
I'm trying to get suggestions for the diameter of the overflow pipe for a rain barrel I made from a 32-gallon garbage can. I'm planning to hook up a hose with irrigation holes near plants in a rock bed to the barrel overflow; I just can't figure out how wide the opening needs to be to cope with rising water level inside the barrel during rainfalls. Or does it even matter? Any advice would be appreciated. Pic attached. Thanks.
nice look'n house.
there was a rain barrel at my house when i moved in. it had a garden hose as an overflow. this hose was about 50' long. i didn't check the barrel when it was drenching rain. but it seemed to work well as far as i could tell. otherwise, i am sure 1" pvc would handle it no problem.
