Questions about ditch running along side driveway.
I have got a gravel driveway that is collecting water. There is a small hill which slopes into the driveway. There was a ditch where the slope meets the driveway, but it has filled with dirt. Last weekend, I dug a trench at the bottom of the slope where it meets the driveway. I need to put in some sort of drain tile to allow the water to divert the water.
My plan is to do the following:
1. Put weed fabric in the bottom of the trench.
2. Pour in 1" gravel along the length of the trench.
3. Slope the gravel such that the water flows towards the end of the driveway where there is a pond.
4. Put in a drain tile.
5. Backfill with 1" gravel.
A couple of questions I have is should I use solid walled perforated pipe or flexible black pipe.
Also I am not sure how I should cover the pipe once it's in the trench. Should I cover it with gravel and then with soil? I want to make sure the water gets into the drain pipe and runs down trench.
