question about 1' sand bed for pavers

i have paver delivery coming thursday. im starting my sitting walls and pillars first, my question is regarding my 1" sand bed,can the sand sand get wet, or is it better if it doesnt? i am under the impression i only want to lay as much sand as we can accomplish in that day?
advice please..

Maybe lightly misted (and I have never even heard that), but don't spread more than you can do at a time. Any rain may wash away what you already have spread out.

When we did our patio, we just did it in sections at a time that we could do.

Laying the pavers on the sand actually goes pretty quick.

I have installed many paver walks and patios and just finished my own this summer. I have never purposly wetted the sand but I don't think it will hurt any. Just be sure that it is compacted/tamped to settle it before you screed.
When I do my brick work I am usually on my knees pulling a screed board towards my lap and sand is pretty much all over my legs. I don't really want it to be wet or I'll be wet.
As far as how much at a time? It only makes sense to use as much as you need at any given time.

it does not matter if the sand gets wet just let it dry. you can put down all the sand you want just make sure you screed it properly befor you lay the pavers. you can always move the sand re-work it re-screed it water isnt going to hurt. but do not flood the sand area, a lite rain or sprinlers wont hurt just make sure you have screeded the area you are working on properly and make sure you have a perfect level bed of sand

Getting the sand damp actually helps keep it in place and cuts down on dust. Sort of like building a sand castle.....it's hard to keep the sand in place when dry.....

With that said.....you want to screed it first....don't have to be perfect.....then dampen it.....then screed again....you will find it's easier to then lay the pavers.....the sand won't shift on you as much.
