Question

Putting In Patio

I am going to put in a Patio that is 27' X 32' and I come up with 324 Paver's that are 22/3" T X 8" W X 4" D. I would like to know if I am right on the amount of Paver's that I will need?

What would be the best base to put them on?

Would one need to put drainage under the Patio?

Is there anything ele that I need to complate the job?

Putting In Patio

Go to the Interlocking Concrete Paveing Institute site (icpi.org) for instructions and tecnical information.

Use 6-8" of compacted level road base. - Same as under asphalt.

Use a 1" uncompacted, leveledclean concrete sand.

Set the pavers and install the edging (steel, aluminum, plastic, concrete).

Spread mason's sand and vibrate with a plate vibrator.

Sweep clean.

If you are concerned about surface drainage, slope the top of the compacted base and still use 1" of sand for a setting bed.
