I looks like a survey spike to me---

Is it in a place that should have one?

My neighbor moved mine---so don't use that for building purposes without verifying the location is correct.

Yeah. It's in about where our property line should be. There's another one on opposite end of yard.

If you look at your survey drawing (from when the house was bought) you'll see a reference to an "EIP" at the several corners of the lot.

EIP= Existing Iron Pin and that picture is the top of one
