Pre Sod Fertilizers

I will be putting in sod shortly and I need to know what type of pre sod treatment I need to use on the soil.

Pre Sod Fertilizers

You need to till and prep your soil for sod like you would for seed or hydroseeding. Sod is a transplant product so I would feed it with a turf food after you lay it down and I would do two staggered applications at half the usual amount until the sod takes.

People underestimate what it take to establish a sod lawn. More water than a seeded lawn just to start. Make sure it is fresh and that you water it as you lay it down. Use a landscape roller to roll it in contact with the soil.

Have you considered hydroseeding by the way? It will establish your lawn faster and healthier than sod and for a fraction of the cost. It will not be instant though.
