Po'tatas!

I threw some old budding potatoes into my compost heap a month or 2 ago and dicovered that they have sprouted and are thriving. This was just an attempt at making compost but the soil is very alkaline, sterile, and hard. I throw veggie scraps, yard trimmings, and coffee grounds in there, and turn and water every so often to (TRY TO) keep it somewhat moist. I didn't think there was much hope for this heap without adding bagged compost.

Are these spuds going to be safe to eat?

They'll be fine, as long as you haven't tossed any toxic chemicals into the pile.

Do you eat mushrooms? Do you know what commercial mushrooms are grown in?

Mick

There's literally 1000s of truckloads of Hay going to the commercial mushroom farmers...
Either the history channel, or discovery just had a show about it...

Truffles grow in/under cow patties...

I heard if the potatoes are green to burn the whole plant.
