Please confirm that this is a weed (I think crabgrass)

So I know I've been posting here a lot about my new lawn, but I'm starting the think this is crabgrass growing in various spots. You can see the new grass around it but I have a few stalks like this that are just much bigger then the grass.

I'm fairly certain it's crab grass since it looks like it's starting to put of another blade of grass from a wrap around the first (if that makes sense) so I'd like to pull them all so I make sure that the crab grass doesn't get a hold in the new lawn. Can someone confirm this? does it look like it might just be straw? or does tall fescue ever look like this?

Thanks for the help

It is just wheat, oats, barley or whatever the straw is( was). It will die this fall, never to return.

Not crabgrass . Crabgrass doesn't usually grow up that high just outward.

This appears to be a type of crabgrass, a type found (at least) on the West Coast. it is invasive and spreads from the center out. You must control it or it will take over a lawn. I use Bayer Lawn Weed and Crabgrass killer; if it doesn't kill it then it is just a type of fescue. My neighbor lets this stuff grow in his lawn so it is a contant fight; I use 1 1/2 times the recommended amount and spray 3 weeks in a row (professional landscaper who works for the City told me to use the 1 1/2 times). It works for me.

Hi,
I did read Post #5 but since I have the same "weed" in my lawn, and since a professional landscaper believes it is crabgrass, I felt confident in the post. Thanks.

If you can see the base of the plant and see a lilac/purple color...it's a weed & invasive. The easiet way to rid your yard is to pull them while they are as small as the ones in your pick. It is crabgrass, check out the website for pics & ways to get rid of
