Planter box

I am biulding a planter box around a tree stump. The ground slopes and I was wondering if I have to make the rail road ties level or if they can slope with the ground?

Planter box

You don't have to
But depending upon the slope & area it might look better
A slight slope won't be noticed that much
A big slope & large area & rain might flood the lower area & wash out dirt
