Paver Patio Install

I am about to start our patio project, but need some advice.

Can anyone recommend how to create a slope away from the house? I am having a little difficulty in setting up the string line. The patio in length will be 18', so I want at least a 2" slope away from my deck. How can I achieve this?

Thanks,

Set the slope of your compacted base at the slope you want.

Install a 1" uniform thickness layer of sand for a setting bed. Thid will also follow your base slope.

Set pavers, restrain the edges, spread some fine sand and then compact with a plate vibrator. Sweep off excess sand.

The easiest way to set your slope with a string line is drive in 2 stakes, one at the house and the other at the edge of the patio. Secure the line say 12" above grade at the house, level and mark it at the outside stake. Measure from this mark down 2" (your pitch) and secure the line.
