Patio or Deck

I want to create some sort of outdoor area under my existing deck. This new area would be ground level and have access from a daylight basement door. The area is about 13' square. The existing deck is attached to the house on one side and supported by 3 steel posts on the other side.

Since I plan to DIY I want a simple solution. Costs is a major factor too.

I am torn between decking material and patio pavers. Looking for advise and suggestions.

I vote for a patio.

Patio or Deck

my vote would be for a nice patio paver that matches the color of your house.
maybe even some wall block to make a nice sitting bench on one side.

Definately the pavers and if you haven't already done so, inspect the deck to make sure it is properly mounted to the house for safety.

This is from http://www.landscape-design-advice.c...io-design.html

View website to see more pictures. Here is one in particular I am thinking about doing.

Here is a very simple concrete paving design that anyone can have.

Just add a nice concrete color and score the concrete into squares.
Notice that this hardscape design is set on the diagonal. Photo from Anne Knorr
