patio for BBQs

Can I use crushed gravel or crushed granite for a patio,
total sq ft is 65. I am on a budget and want something my 2 grills can sit but more importantly inexpensive. I have the area staked and fabric laid.

i want to get my gas grill off my main deck. i haven't done it yet, but my plan is to simply pick a spot on the lawn, remove the sod, lay down fabric, put down a couple inches of crushed stone, then a small "floating deck" directly on top of that.

Not sure if that's the right term, but basically just taking some PT 4x4s, laying them on top of stone, and screwing deck planks on.

Limestone? It compacts well. Pavers? $2.20 16x16 at menards right now

yes you can use it. You can use anything you like but think of the rain days and the mud puddles and mud you will have to stand in. I would make a base of 1x1 0r 2x2 patio stones to set the grill on. Leave the rest turf and start saving money for the brick pavers or concrete.
