Outdoor lawn equipment storage

Interesting new look to the site...

Anyhow, just wondering if any of you have any neat ideas for storing lawn equipment outside? I have a two car detached garage that I am quickly outgrowing as I have been running my small business out of it for the time being. I have your typical professional lawn equipment, i.e. backpack blower, 36" walk-behind, push mower, straight-shaft trimmer, and hedge clippers.

I do not really have the space, money, or desire to have a shed on my tiny suburban Chicago lot, so just looking to move some of this stuff outside. Thoughts? Pictures would help greatly.

Thanks all!

Graham

Not to suggest anybody in my fair City or surrounds would steal things but are you sure you want it exposed for all to see? Isn't it like mailing theft invitations?

Those small Rubbermaid type "sheds" or "outdoor closets" are not outrageously expensive (under $400?) and should hold the basic equipment you mention. You will probably need a pad to anchor the enclosure too but it would at least give you something with a lock on the door.

Just remember the surfaces of equipment outside are going to condense water vapor as will the inside of fuel tanks so keep an eye on that situation. Drain the tanks of gas before long term storage.

You cannot see anything behind my garage unless you are standing back there. In that situation, one should be prepared to meet my awesome southern neighbor that is not afraid to defend his neighbor's property! I am lined by a heavy hedgerow in the rear and blocked by a fence and a lattice privacy wall on the other side. I am not terribly worried about anyone seeing anything or stealing from me, although I do know it can happen.

That's your problem.
Move the business. Or build another garage or at least a nice shed.

I had similar problem - solved it by building a 30' x 24' storage building / workshop.
