Outdoor House Illumination

We have three up-pointing flood lights that illuminate our house at night. Whenever it rains or the sprinklers go off, the water gets to the contact point between the light bulb and the fixture and my 7-year light bulbs blow after about a month! I have tried rubber gaskets and silicone but neither seem to keep out the water.

Does anyone know of a water resistant fixture that can prevent, or at least delay, water from getting in? I have seen halogen floods that appear to be water resistant but they warn of very high temperatures and we have bushes that essentially rub against these fixtures.

Very much appreciate any recommendations!

Are both the fixtures and the bulbs rated for outdoor use?

Some bulbs look like outdoor floodlights, but are rated for indoor use only.

AND - my 90watt floodlights do not burn my house down when they contact the bamboo leaves that brush up against them. (I sat and watched them stay on for 8 hours, while I drank beer......checking them for fire hazards)

My lights are never on that long, but the beer was damn good.

(And the wife got a brand new excuse as to why I couldn't help with the grocery shopping, due to my "home improvement" skills.)

Could you post a picture of these fixtures? I'm invisioning typical standard par sockets mounted on w/p boxes, designed to hold outdoor par floods. Do not use thinwalled indoor par lamps in these sockets.
